Deutsch: Das Schmidt-Cassegrain-Teleskop zählt zu den Spiegelteleskopen. Die Ausführung des Schmidt-Cassegrain-Teleskops geht auf das Schmidt-Teleskop des bedeutenden Optikers Bernhard Schmidt zurück. Dabei wird aber durch einige Kompromisse, die aus praktischen Gründen eingegangen wurden, die Leistungsfähigkeit der Schmidt-Kamera nicht erreicht.
English: The Schmidt–Cassegrain is a catadioptric telescope that combines a cassegrain reflector's optical path with a Schmidt corrector plate to make a compact astronomical instrument that uses simple spherical surfaces.
Français : Le télescope Schmidt-Cassegrain est un dispositif optique de type catadioptrique, composé de deux miroirs, un miroir primaire concave et sphérique et un miroir secondaire convexe hyperbolique, ainsi que d'une lentille appelée lame de Schmidt. Il s'agit d'une évolution du dispositif réflecteur proposé en 1672 par Laurent Cassegrain, développée en s'appuyant sur la chambre de Schmidt développée par Bernhard Schmidt en 1931.
