Sewing machines whose power source cannot be determined, usually for both of the following reasons:

  • one of the following reasons:
    • the power source is out of the frame of the picture, or
    • the power source is hidden behind something, or
    • the sewing machine is shown without a power source (e.g. disassembled, or a diagram that doesn't include the power source), and
  • no clues are available in the picture or other pictures of the same machine as to which power source the sewing machine uses.

Clues in the picture can include:

  • If the drive belt goes down through the table with a wide angle/spacing between its two sides, that suggests it wraps around a flywheel under the table, which suggests the machine is treadle-powered.
  • If there is an electric pedal to control the machine, that suggests that the machine is electrically powered.
