English: Shalwar kameez (also spelled salwar kameez and shalwar qamiz) is a generic term to cover different styles of dress traditionally worn by both men and women in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Northern Republic of India. The regional styles include the Punjabi suit which originated in the Punjab region. Other varieties include Perahan tunban, Khet partug and Firaq partug worn in Afghanistan, Balochi shalwar of Balochistan and the Sindhi suthan worn in Sindh. The styles are also popular in the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the rest of South Asia.
