According to a NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission map, Shinbone Alley is a north-south alley which runs from north of Great Jones Street to mid-block south of Bond, where it supposedly connects with the east-west Jones Alley, an official named and signed (albeit gated and locked) NYC street. Because Jones Alley is named after Great Jones Street, it's possible that "Shinbone Alley" was once considered to be part of Jones Alley. The Bond Street gate on this section has a sign saying that it's a "private mews". (Source: The Street Book, NYCLPC NoHo Extension map)
