English: The Sileni are semi-wild figures of the mythological classic world, which are characterized by a human body associated with narrow pointed ears and a long equine tail. In these characteristics they can be clearly distinguished by the Satyrs which to the human form add goat features (such as horns, wider and pointy ears, a short tail and sometimes goats legs or hooves). The old Silenus - called Papposilenos - instead is a figure that is closer to the Satyr than to Silenus. However, both figures are part of the Bacchic world and therefore often they accompany Dionysus or Maenads. As the figures related to plants and animals fertility, Sileni are often depicted with an erect phallus, or intent to dance with the maenads, or engaged in undermining them sexually. Otherwise, you may find Sileni intent to masturbate them selves or in homosexual relations between them. In the figures of ancient Greek pottery Sileni are the only male figures that are shown to have oral sex or anal intercourse between them.
