The Monastery of Capuchin Poor Clares located on 3325 Pecos Street was established on November 1988. In 1987, the community of Capuchin Poor Clares in Irapuato, Guanajuto, Mexico, agreed to establish a monastery in Denver. The canonical procedures were initiated to arrange for the new foundation. The Mother President of the Federation of Capuchin Sistrs in Mexico and the Abbess of the monastery in Irapuato, came to Denver to meet with Fr. Charles Chaput and Archbishop Stafford and look at possible housing sites. The former rectory of St. Patrick's Church on Pecos Street was chosen. The Capuchin Sisters have lived at Our Lady of Light Monastery for more than 28 year. Their primary mission is to pray for all the people of God.
