Français : Depuis 2010 (réforme Kallikratis), Skiathos (Σκιάθος) dans les Sporades est l'un des 325 dèmes (communes, ou municipalités) de Grèce (population : 6,088 habitants en 2011).
English: Skiathos Island is a major recreational spot in the Sporades Archipelago of the Aegean Sea. Though not far from Athens it features beaches of fine sand, bays, rugged headlands, wetlands, wildlife, such as birds, historical sites, and villas. Beaching and boating are prime activities. Some sites of note are Koukounaris or Koukonaris {"pine cone"} Beach, Lalaria Beach, and Bourtza Castle. As various agencies have been developing the place, the coasts, especially Koukonares, have been made a Natura 2000 protected area, Skiathos: Koukounaries kai Evryteri Thalassia Periochi ("Skiathos: Koukounaries and additional coastal districts"). In contrast, the traditional and ancient settlement is now termed "old town." It is not in the protected area.
