The Southern Andean Steppe Ecoregion is a designated ecoregion by WWF and One Earth. It is classified as a Montane Grasslands & Shrublands Biome. It is one of five ecoregions in the Andean Mountain Grasslands Bioregion.

Note - Nevado Tres Cruces National Park is situated on the northern fringe of this ecoregion; it occupies a transitional area between what can be considered Central Andean Dry Puna and Southern Andean Steppe.
