A mosque from the second half of the 15th century when Hadım Suleyman Pasha (or Gazi Süleyman Paşa (died 1548)) - who gave the structure his name - was active on the political scene. He was an Ottoman statesman of Balkan origins. He served the function of Beylerbey - a governor-general of the largest and most important provinces. Note: many people mix the mosque with the Selimiye Mosque, but it most definitely is not.
