It is located in the northeast corner of the Ulu Mosque, and its construction was encouraged by the then Tarsus District Governor, Ziya Bey. In 1894, a clock tower was built in the center of Tarsus by Feyzullah Ağa (Surname: Aykut), one of the notables of Frengüs (Çiçekli) village, with an expense of 25 thousand kuruş, and a large clock was brought from Europe. The Ministry of Internal Affairs sent the necessary document to the Grand Vizier's office on February 3, 1895, and Aykut was honored with the Order of Mecidî from the 5th rank for this service.[
