English: The ancient Temple of Hibis in the Kharga Oasis area, of the Libyan Desert of western Egypt - in the New Valley Governorate.
  • The temple was begun by Apries in 588 BCE.
  • It was completed by the Persian, Darius I in 522 BC.
  • Later, Nectanebo II built the colonnade, and other additions were made during the Ptolemaic period.
  • During the fourth century, a Coptic church was also added along the north side of the portico.
