Mars sometimes displays very odd and/or beautiful scenes. Mars has a very thin atmosphere, so it is often very clear. The ground is not covered with vegetation; hence, we can see the landscape more clearly. The surface of Mars is billions of years old--in that time many shapes have formed. Our spacecraft have really good cameras that can resolve places well.
