English: The Timucua were a group of American Indian people that spoke dialects of the Timucua language and lived in northeast and north central Florida and southeast Georgia. The tribe rapidly declined from 50,000 in the 16th century to just under 200 by the 18th century. French artist Jacques Le Moyne created many drawings on the Timucua during his exploration of florida in the 1560s.

Su nombre procedía de Atimoqua “señor o caudillo”, y también recibieron los nombres de atikmucua, tomoca y thinapoa. Formaban una confederación de tribus: timucua, potano, satuniba, y otras.
