Totara Flats is a very popular hut on the Holdsworth - Kaitoke Track and can be reached from either Waiohine or Holdsworth Roads.
The gas cooking facilities previously at the hut have been permanently removed 2012. The Department of Conservation promised to continue to supply firewood to the hut, which will provide heating and also a cooking source via the woodstove installed. Though without gas, the hut remains listed as a 'serviced' hut.
