Category:Translation requ
This category collects the translation requests of the
language subtemplates.
The English example won't show the difficulties of translation, because English is quite simple;
but translations into other languages may need to care for grammatical specialities as genders and/or inflections.
Roman languages, as e.g. es, fr, it, pt, but also many others know two genders, other as e.g. de have three.
The database for the topics includes the correct demonstratives for languages with more than one grammatical gender.
An example for inflection may be the French language:
- a topic with female gender is e.g. "cette icône"
- a topic with male gender is e.g. "ce drapeau" (thanks god we don't have French topics with "h aspiré"!)
- but with an epenthesis-"t" when a consonant follows as e.g. "cet emblème" (we don't have French topics with "h muet"!)
When these three examples are Large SVG files, they will become
- "cette grande icône",
- "ce grand drapeau",
- "ce grand emblème".
while in English it's just "that large icon", "that large flag" or "that large emblem" without alteration.
The success of the translation can be checked with this page in all languages.
