English: The Trooper Tarrant memorial in Motueka is registered by Heritage New Zealand as a Category II structure, with registration number 2985. It is jointly registered with the former Motueka Wharf. The memorial serves three purposes: it is a memorial to the only Motueka soldier who died in the Second Boer War, it celebrated peace when the war ended, and it commemorated the accession to the throne of King Edward VII. The original of the soldier's memorial tablet was transferred to the Motueka war memorial at Memorial Park.
