English: A tunjo is a small anthropomorh or zoomorph figure elaborated by the Muisca as part of their art. Tunjos were made of gold or tumbaga (a gold-silver-copper alloy). The Muisca used their tunjos in various instances in their religion and as votive offerings to communicate with the gods and when the Muisca asked for favors from their deities.
Español: Un tunjo es una pequeña figura antropomorfa o zoomorfa elaborada por los muiscas como parte de su arte. Los tunjos estaban hechos de oro o tumbaga (una aleación de oro, plata y cobre). Los tunjos se usaban como piezas de ofrenda votiva, para comunicarse con los dioses y cuando los muiscas pedían favores a sus deidades.
