English: Foals are born typically lighter than they will be as adults. Black foals are usually born a mouse-dun color and bay foals with pale blonde or gray hair on their legs. Chestnut and palomino foals may be born lghter compared to their final shade. A rarer phenomenon is underpigmentation of chestnut and cream dilute foals, resulting in pinkish skin that will later turn to normal black skin.
