Diacritical combining marks
Adlam diacritics are normally drawn above base letters.

The last sign below, Adlam nukta (U+1E94A), is used to extend the Adlam alphabet to transcribe foreign phonemes (e.g. nasalized vowels); it is called “hoortobbhere” when drawn above the base letter, and “lestobbhere” when moved below it because another diacritic is drawn above that letter, notably the Adlam vowel lengthener (U+1E945).

𞥞𞥟
See also the “tatweel” or “kashida” (U+0640) in the Arabic block, a mute spacing sign used discretionarily to extend the joining stroke on the baseline between letters in order to justify Arabic texts, or used as a base holder for combining diacritics; also used with the Syriac, Mandaic, Manichaean, Psalter Pahlavi, Sogdian, Hanifi Rohingya and Adlam scripts. The Adlam script also uses some Arabic punctuations in that block.

Prepended modifier letter or mark
Indicates prenasalization of the succeeding consonant letter; it is not joining with other surrounding Adlam letters:
𞥋
All other Adlam letters below are usually written within words using their joining forms, but alternate unjoined forms are possible (e.g. for titling, using specific unjoined font styles).
