English: Kanbun marks (tatesen, reten and kaeriten) are small ideographic annotation marks to annotate the correct reading order of Japanese texts written with traditional Kanji ideographs, usually written in superscript to the right of the annotated ideograph for the modern horizontal writing mode (but in subscript and below or to the left of the annotated ideograph for the traditional vertical writing mode). They may be followed by small kanas to complete the Japanese reading annotation.
