English: A utility pole is a (usually wooden, or concrete) pole (or column, or post) used by public utilities to support overhead electrical cables/wires, and/or communication cables (like coaxial cables, or fiber optic cables), and related equipment such as transformers and/or street lights. It can also be referred to as a power pole (for minor overhead power lines), telegraph pole, telephone pole (or just phone pole, for telephone lines), telecommunication pole, etc, depending on its application.
Caution: All terms (e.g. "phone pole") are commonly misused colloquially. The specific equipment of utility poles is not always easily identifiable, and various combinations are possible. If unsure, please use the term utility poles.
