English: LMS Stanier Class 8F locomotive LMS 8274, now preserved on the Gloucestershire-Warwickshire Railway and carrying the number 8476

The loco here isn't actually 8476! It is really North British-built (Works No.24648 of 1940) for the War Department as an "interim austerity" loco and numbered by them 348; however, it was initially loaned to the L.M.S. as their No.8274 but after only a few weeks was taken back by the WD who shipped it to France to haul supplies for the British Expeditionary Force. In 1941 to Turkey as TCDD No.45160. It was repatriated to the UK in 1989.

The genuine No.8476 was built by the GWR Swindon in 1944 for the War Department, but has not been preserved
