English: Waimate was an iron-hulled full-rigged ship. J. Blumer & Co. built her at Sunderland in 1874 as Hindostan for British Eastern Shipping Co., Liverpool. Her dimensions were length: 219.6 ft (66.9 m); width: 35.1 ft (10.6 m); depth: 20.6 ft (627.8 cm) and 1156 GRT, 1123 NRT. Rigged with skysails. Sold 1875 to New Zealand Shipping Co., London, and was renamed Waimate. Sold 1896 to G.A. Lindblom, Åbo, and was renamed Valkyrian. Reduced to barque-rig in circa 1897. Sailed 1898 from Newcastle, NSW, for Iquique and was never heard of again.[1]
