This west window, designed and made by John William Brown (1842–1928) of Newcastle in 1888, originally illustrated the Last Judgement. However, the church's architect, Thomas Ralph Spence, had the pictures in the top part of the window adjusted in 1889, in order to change the emphasis of the theme to that of the Resurrection. Evidence of the original theme remains, however, in the bottom half of the window, which is still described as a Last Judgement window. The window is framed by the Caen stone baptistry screen, which was designed by Spence and carved by Robert Beall.
