They're not. "Cast iron" is correct throughout. If we're to rename anything, it should be to remove the hyphen. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:30, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Both forms for the adjective are widely used (could it be related to a difference between UK and USA ?) and according to commons renaming policy these are all borderline cases and may be kept unrenamed.
