This category is combining two things

[edit]

I understand there is something called "editatona", in feminine, in Spanish-speaking countries, which is a feminist stand over the word "editatón", in masculine. This situation does not apply at all in Portuguese, as "maratona" (feminine) in Portuguese is the regular word for "maratón" (masculine) in Spanish, and to call an "edit-a-thon" an "editatona" is not necessarily a feminist stand and is actually very common for any kind of event. Unless there is a clear connection with Wikimedia Mexico or the realm of activities that is encompassed by the term "editatona" in Spanish-speaking countries, everything that comes from Brazil should not be included in this category, as this is misleading and is rooted in a linguistic confusion. I have removed from the category the events and files I know bear no connection with the category... as I was one of the organizers or because I know exactly the context in which they were organized. It is quite likely that more trimming is necessary. Joalpe (talk) 11:49, 12 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
