We didn't use "river" here with the other rivers in Iceland, otherwise it would be Jökulsá á Fjöllum river which would seem rather strange to my ear ...
And also: fljót means stream in Icelandic, so it would be twice river.
Same for Krossá river as á does mean river. Reykholt (talk) 17:17, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
