Move[edit]

"Road building" is a somewhat cumbersome and rarely used name. The typical phrase would be roadworks. Ingolfson (talk) 10:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually "road building" sounds more appropriate (to me) than "roadworks". Perhaps it is a regional thing, similar to my inquiry at Category talk:Road equipment in that I think that term sounds awkward. What about "roadway construction" ? --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 13:48, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
While I agree that regional influences have a lot of importance in what "feels right" to any specific person, the Google test strongly supports the "roadworks" vs "road building" argument. If people won't support that rename, "road construction" might be a good compromise. The issue however is that "roadworks" (intentionally) covers maintenance AND new construction, where "road construction" only covers ne roads, really. Ingolfson (talk) 05:45, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's an issue I've been trying to figure out, too... what about a parent category "roadworks" with "road construction" and "road maintenance" as sub-categories? --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 11:41, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That would be best. Cheers Ingolfson (talk) 04:28, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
