Commons:Commons Photographers User Group/Photo walk in Stockholm on August 14, 2019
On August 14, 2019, members and friends of the Commons Photographers User Group gathered during Wikimania 2019 in Stockholm for a photo expedition to the city of Vaxholm in the Stockholm archipelago. Wikimedians Wikilover 90, Martin Kraft, Rhododendrites, Tjbliss, Krichel, Seewolf, Wuselig, and Frank Schulenburg boarded the historic steamship SS Storskär on its way to Vaxholm. The group enjoyed the opportunity of taking plenty of pictures of Stockholm from the water plus a bit of the archipelago. Upon the arrival at Vaxholm, we took the small ferry to Vaxholm Fortress and started exploring the historic fortification, which was used as a movie location for the pirate stronghold in the Swedish movie Pippi in the South Seas in 1970. Back to the beautiful city of Vaxholm, participants wondered where to find food and ended up in a small ice cream shop before heading back to Stockholm. The evening concluded in a restaurant in the historic part of Stockholm, where everyone – including two German Wikipedians from Hamburg who had joined the group – enjoyed excellent food and drinks.
