Facilities of the port.

Context

[edit]

Port de Tarragona (Port of Tarragona in English) is a port founded in the third century before Christ. It has become one of the most important hubs for the trade of chemical, agricultural, paper and vehicle related products in Spain and in the Western Mediterranean. As of 2020 the port is managed by the Autoritat Portuària de Tarragona (Authority of the Port of Tarragona in English).

The port has it's own museum (Museu del Port de Tarragona) and archive (Arxiu del Port de Tarragona).

Inside the facilities several monuments can be found such as, Far del Moll d'Aragó, Far de la Banya and Rellotge del Moll.

Presentation

[edit]

In late 2014 the port started it's collaboration within Nits de la Llengua al Món Digital a language-driven edit-a-thon that lasted another five editions until COVID-19 pandemic disrupted this yearly event.

In 2015 an edit-a-thon centered around El Serrallo, a neighborhood historically tied to the port, took place in conjunction with the Museu del Port de Tarragona (Museum of the Port of Tarragona in English).

In December 2020 we selected 11 high quality photographs from Port's archives to show notorious activities and monuments closed to the public but inside their facilities. Images also helped in illustrating their respective activities in several articles. Full gallery can be found in Category:Contributions from Port de Tarragona.
