Not all mid-1800 "Treasury Notes" are Treasury Notes, early series of United States Notes (then called Legal Tender Notes) were marked as "Treasury Notes" despite being a separate issue. These notes are nearly identical to actual Treasury Notes, but can be distinguished from the latter by the lack of indication that it was redeemable in coin.
