Reason Seems to be the most valued pic of the surprise visit by Hitler where the Hitler_and_Mannerheim_recording was produced -- Manelolo (talk)

{o} Does not illustrate the subject very well IMO (crit.3). A crop would be welcome, or a change of the scope. I see here a conference between two heads of states, Hitler and Ryti. Mannerheim and Keitel are present.--Jebulon (talk) 15:21, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jebulon: Hmmm, quite right! Might Hitler's conference with Mannerheim - Keitel, Hitler, Mannerheim and Ryti present or along those lines be better? I believe this is the only pic where all of them are well represented. Notwithstanding that, by all facts and reliable sources, it was a meeting between commanders-in-chief, Hitler and Mannerheim, on military matters and specifically targeted for Mannerheim's 75th birthday. In that sense, not a meeting between heads of state—Ryti even has his eyes closed and it very much seems like Hitler is looking at something with Mannerheim instead of interacting with Ryti. There are a few better pictures with only Hitler and Mannerheim, so those might be better for the so called main pic. Thoughts? Manelolo (talk) 16:58, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Manelolo: I don't know, it is a difficult matter. But I see that you understand what I mean--Jebulon (talk) 17:18, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thx, I'll let it sink for a while and propose a new scope soon. Manelolo (talk) 17:29, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Scope changed from Hitler's conference with Mannerheim to Keitel, Hitler, Mannerheim and Ryti meeting at Immola Airfield, Finland, on June 1942 --Manelolo (talk) 08:46, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Info Scope rearranged to be far more specific per discussion above. The first was one was a direct copy from the category or the way the meeting is often called, now it's parsed accordingly. Ping Jebulon. Hopefully ok! -- Manelolo (talk) 08:46, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ping Manelolo I thank you for your reflexion and change, I'm not still convinced however. Two points, sorry for ignorance: Was it only one conference between AH and FM ? If yes, OK. If no, the scope is not complete. Is really this picture the best illustration of it ? I have to think more about for a while... Some other opinions should be helpful, as this subject is really interesting (IMO).--Jebulon (talk) 09:43, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jebulon: As far as I know, there were other meetings (prior to the war and in private, I believe), but not a single one so much photographed and so well known with all of its pecularities (the recording, surprise visit, 75th birthday, German tide of war slowly turning). Now that I started pondering more about it, there might be other excellent candidates as well and I'm becoming indecisive. See for example, a Google search with hitler mannerheim meeting and the Hitler's conference with Mannerheim category. Most likely I can find a PD pic from the archives if one from Google is the best illustration. This candidate just popped into my mind since its mostly used around Wikipedias and shows all of the "big" representatives around. But maybe a good one with only Hitler and Mannerheim might serve the purpose best. Extra opinions would indeed be helpful. -- Manelolo (talk) 09:59, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ping Manelolo. Thanks. Of course I had a look to Google/images too, and found other (better ?) pictures of this event. I think the scope will be good just with a date added (I've heard indeed about previous meeting between these two men, and I agree, this one is special). We are on the good way !--Jebulon (talk) 10:10, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 Info @Jebulon: Thx! Date added. I'll have to ponder about a possible candidate for "Hitler and Mannerheim meeting" pic. There's at least 4 good ones. Some have a very special tone or situation to them, but either one's face is not as clear/visible as it could be. Then the ones where they are both clear are not that special, hmmm...
