English: Pope Saint Damasus I (ca. 305-383) was Pope from 366-383. He was probably born in what is present-day Portugal. Saint Jerome was his personal secretary. His accomplishments included restoring the Basilica di San Lorenzo fuori le Mura and collaborating with Jerome to create the Vulgate translation of scripture.
