NOTE: Euphorbia candelabrum Trémaux ex Kotschy, Mitth. K. K. Geogr. Ges. Wien 1(2): 169 (1857) is considered to be an illegitimate name synonymous with E. murielii, a species endemic to Sudan and has been even misapplied to East and North East African populations of E. ingens; the species properly worth using this name is an Angolan species described by Welwitsch, Proc.
