This is a really good work, a sort of novelty march or march intermezzo, meaning not the usual type of march. Published by Thiebes-Stierling in St. Louis in 1904, the year of the St. Louis Exposition where it was received well. Was also published under the title "Thielin". Claypoole was only about 20 years old when this was composed and would go on to distinguish himself as a novelty composer. The Pike was a long promenade that stretched for over a mile through the heart of the Expostion. The original score was found at the Charles Templeton Sheet Music Collection at this link: https://scholarsjunction.msstate.edu/cht-sheet-music/4681/ This is a reproduction of the original score, no changes were made.
