Description
English: Crude copper alloy ?dagger chape or ferrule. It is made of sheet copper alloy and bent to form a sub-pyridimical (it is rectangular in section) shape with a rounded end opposite an open end. The 'sides' have a piercing near the open end, 1.5mm in diameter. To the 'reverse' the two ends of the sheet meet; to the 'front' the open edge is cut in a crescent shape.
Length 29mm, max width 18.5mm (min width 5mm). Weighs 3.90g.
Probably late medieval/ early post medieval in date.
