Description

The name comes from the Latin deformis, deformed, disfigured, scarred.Very common species of lichen in mountain forests of the northern hemisphere. The species, considered cosmopolitan, has been found in Germany, USA, Canada, Austria, China, Antarctica, Argentina, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Greenland, India, Ireland, Iceland, South Orkneys Islands, Svalbard Islands, Lithuania, Madeira, Mongolia, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Saint-Pierre and Miquelon, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Tajikistan, Italy, European part of Russia, in the Caucasus. Like many other lichens, it has antibiotic activity and is used as a raw material for medicines antiseptic.

Один из видов лишайников, очень распространенных в горных лесах северного полушария. Название происходит от латинского deformis - деформированные, обезображенные, шрамы. Считается космополитическим видом, был найден в Германии, США, Канаде, Антарктиде, Австрии, Китае, Монголии, Индии, Аргентине, Дании, Норвегии, Швеции, Финляндии, Нидерландах, Польше, Чехии, Румынии, Сербии, Испании, Италии, Эстонии, Литве, Гренландии, Ирландии, Исландии, Новой Зеландии, на Мадейре, в Таджикистане, европейской части России, на Кавказе.

Содержит усниновую кислоту, как и многие другие лишайники, обладает антибиотической активностью, в России используется в качестве сырья для получения препарата Бинан.
