[edit]DescriptionКоконопряд франконский - Malacosoma franconica - Frankfurter Ringelspinner (27270035542).jpg |
Malacosoma franconica, sometimes written in the literature Malacosoma franconicum, is a moth of the family Lasiocampidae. The German name was chosen in reference to the locality Frankfurt am Main, Franconia, a region in Germany, where the species was but extinct since the 1830s, because at this time the habitat of the local single occurrence area was destroyed at the Frankfurt Lerchesberg by construction. It is found in central, western and southern Europe, as well as Armenia, also in a separate area from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. It preferably populated places with warm microclimate, for example, south exposed sandy habitats and sunny, dry, spacious grass courts and young pine plantations. The larvae feed on Artemisia, Achillea, Plantago, Rumex species. The Malacosoma franconica comes in Germany only a few places in the Northeast, for example in dunes on the island of Usedom and on military training areas in Brandenburg. It is placed on the red list of endangered species in Category 1 ( "extinction"). In Baden-Württemberg it is regarded as extinct or lost. Present in Crimea. Included in the Red Book of Russia (Adygea - rare species, Saratov region - vulnerable species). |
