Summary[edit]
English: Tardigrada - a type of microscopic invertebrate, close to arthropods. Most inhabit moss and lichen cushions on land, trees, rocks and stone walls. The number of Tardigrada in the moss can be very high - hundreds, even thousands of individuals in 1 g of dried moss. They feed on slow-moving fluids and algae on which they live. The Tardigrada attracted the attention of the first researchers with their amazing endurance. In the event of unfavorable conditions, they can fall into the state of anabiosis for dozens of years, and when favorable conditions come, it is quick enough to come alive. English: Water bears (Tardigrades) |
