Notes With the coat of arms of Antwerp. For similar bindings see Quatre siècles, 1989, n. 17 on Joannes Casparus Gevartius, Hymenaus pacifer; theatrum pacis hispano-Gallicae, a S.P.Q. Antverpiensi ante curiam erectum, cum auspicatissima eiusdem pacis facta est promulgatio XV. Kal. April, anni M.DC.LX, Antverpiae, ex officina plantiniana Balthasaris Moreti, 1661; Quatre siècles, 1993, p. 62-63, n. 11 on Petrus Scholirius, Sermonum familiarium libri III, Hermopoli, Typis Basilicis, Anvers, Moretus(?), 1683) relates that the arms block was used on volumes deposited by Antwerp printers, among them Moretus, to the city library. It appears usually as here, as an "ex dono" mention in form of inscripion on the upper cover. Other prize book examples, given to Jesuite colleges like this one, with the city arms, are recorded.
