12. Roman cermaic vessel shard; greyware
Description
English: A rim sherd from a ceramic vessel, dating from the Roman period. The fabric is a greyware. It is smooth, soft and the breaks are fine. It is a mid grey colour throughout. There are frequent well-sorted inclusions, which are clear and sub-angular (quartz), dark grey angular ones, and white rounded ones. The rim is beaded and vertical and has a diameter of 340mm. The sherd is 92.06mm long, 48.18mm wide and 19.55mm thick. The wall is 10.24mm thick. The sherd weighs 81.49g.
