Description
English: OKUNOSHIMA, JAPAN. 1946-08-03. CERAMIC CONTAINERS AT WHAT WAS FORMERLY THE TADANOUMI BRANCH OF THE TOKYO 2ND ARMY ARSENAL. OF GERMAN PATTERN BUT OF JAPANESE MANUFACTURE THEY WERE USED FOR THE PROCESSING OF MUSTARD GAS AND LEWISITE. OPERATION "LEWISITE" UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT SECTION OF BCOF IS INVOLVED IN THE DESTRUCTION OF APPROXIMATELY 22,000 TONS OF POISON GAS. THE WHITE JARS ARE FROM NAGOYA AND THE RED ONES FROM KYOTO.
