14th century spur buckle
Description
English: 14th century copper alloy buckle with integral projecting plate, probably from a spur.
The frame is slightly trapezoidal in shape, measuring 16 x max18, min 16mm (internal 10.5 x 11(10)mm) x 1.5mm. Including the projection, it is 28mm in length.
The projection has two piercings, one 2.5mm in diameter -for the pin- the other 1mm in diameter -for the rivet.
Weighs 2.38g. Cf Egan 1991 no.487.
