Title
15: Roman ceramic vessel
Description
English: A body sherd from a probably Roman ceramic vessel. The body sherd is 40.3mm long, 38mm wide and 7.1mm thick. It weighs 13.98g. The fabric is dark grey with a lighter core and some orange staining. The fabric has some vesicles probably indicating a lime stone temper. There are also frequent light coloured grains (quartz?) and some mica. Clusters of red irregular grains may be iron ore inclusions. The sherd has a pimply surface. The fabric is very hard and has a laminated structure. The inclusions are poorly sorted. It is probably a local Roman greyware.
