15. Roman cermaic vessel shard
Description
English: A rim sherd from a ceramic vessel, dating from the Roman period. The fabric is smooth, soft and the breaks are fine and worn. The surface is light orange, and the core is pale buff. The inclusions are sparse well-sorted inclusions, mainly clear and sub-angular (quartz), and dark grey ones. The rim is tapering and vertical, and there is a flange below it which is slightly downturned. The rim has a diameter of 200mm. The sherd is 89.88mm long, 54.74mm wide and 25.22mm thick. The wall is 7.8mm thick. The sherd weighs 66.8g.
