Description
English: A copper-alloy fob seal of the Georgian to early Victorian period. Complete with its circular red glass intaglio that depicts a retriever, standing in undergrowth, looking backwards and upwards at a flying game bird. The handle is of openwork design with inwardly turned scrolls at the base and a knopped suspension loop at the top. The intaglio is cracked across the centre and has two damage marks on the surface.Fob seals were usually used suspended from a chain on a waistcoat, from the late 18th to late 19th centuries.
