Description

The 1937 Ford got a more rounded body and now fine horizontal bars in the V shaped grille and a V shaped windscreen. The tear drop headlamps, integrated into the front fenders, copied from its cousin, the Lincoln Zephyr, was a modernization found on the Ford before most of the rival brands. Sedans and Tudors were available in Flatback or Trunkback styles. The 37 Ford was available in 3 models; The Model 74 Standard with 136 cu in V8; (painted grille) 5 window Coupe, Tudor, Sedan and Wagon. The Model 78 Standard with 221 cu in V8; (painted grille) 5 window Coupe, Tudor, Sedan and Wagon And the Model 78 Deluxe with 221 cu in V8 (chrome grille and windshield frame) 5 window coupe, Club Coupe, Tudor, Sedan, Wagon, Cabriolet, Phaeton, Convertible Sedan and Roadster The 37 Ford was not only built in the US but also in other countries including Australia, where a coupe utility was built as well. Ford Australia was the first company to produce a coupe utility as a result of a 1932 letter from the wife of a farmer in Victoria, Australia asking for “a vehicle to go to church in on a Sunday and which can carry our pigs to market on Mondays”.
