Summary[edit]

Description

The Cadillac Automobile Company was founded in 1903. In 1909 Cadillac was acquired by General Motors, GMs premier luxury car. In 1948 the Cadillac got all new sheet metal, tail fins were added, pontoon front fenders, wrap around windshields and lots of bright work. The unique to Cadillac, gas cap hidden behind the tail light was introduced. A new V8 was introduced in 1949, all models got the smaller but more powerful 160hp 331 cu in OHV V8. The Coupe de Ville Hardtop Coupe was also introduced late in 49. For 1950, the grille was redesigned incorporating large fog lights, all 2 door Coupes were now hardtops. In 1951, small auxiliary grilles were added beneath the headlamps. Models available in 1950 and 1951 were; Series 60 Special Fleetwood; 130 inch wheelbase C body, (4 door Sedan) Series 61; 122 inch wheelbase B body, (2 door Hardtop and 4 door Sedan) Series 62; 126 inch wheelbase C body, (2 door Hardtop, Coupe deVille, Convertible and 4 door Sedan) Series 75 Fleetwood; 147 inch wheelbase D body, (4 door Sedan and Imperial Sedan) Mobster Micky Cohen owned this car, he worked with Al Capone. Lucky Luciano and Bugsy Seigle. Micky had a bomb proof floor fitted, armor plated doors, bullet proof windows and a hinged windshield for firing from inside the car.
