| Description |
Triumph took over Standard in 1944, these saloons were the first to be built under the Triumph name. Slab sided styling was typical of British cars from this period, also similar styling to the smaller Triumph Mayflower. The first of these cars was the 1946-49 Triumph 1800, the engine shared with the Standard Flying Fourteen. In 1949, the engine came from the Standard Vanguard (2088cc) now called the Triumph 2000 TDA. Roadster versions were built of both the 1800 and 2000. In 1950, they were renamed the Renown TDB, it had an entirely new chassis based on the Standard Vanguard with pressed steel sections replacing the tubes previously used. The front suspension changed to coil springing A Limousine version introduced in 1951. The 1952-54 Mk II Renown TDC were built on the longer wheelbase chassis from the limousine.
