| Description |
Olds Motor Vehicle Co. was founded by Ransom E. Olds in 1897. In 1908 absorbed by General Motors, a mid spec car in GMs range of cars. Oldsmobile was phased out in 2004. From 1941, model designation was two digit, the first the body size, the second the number of cylinders. For 1949, the Oldsmobile got a new look, bodies were now lower and more streamlined. The 1952 Oldsmobile was unchanged from 1951 apart from a central vertical bar added to the grille. In 1953, the last year for this generation, the bumper bar rose up on each side to two oval lights separated by a horizontal bar. Available in 1953 was; The 120 inch wheelbase base 88 and Deluxe 88, 150hp Rocket V8, were available in 2 or 4 door Sedans The 120 inch wheelbase upmarket Super 88, 165hp Rocket V8, was available in 2 or 4 door Sedans, Convertible and 'Holiday' 2 door Hardtop The 124 inch wheelbase 98, 165hp Rocket V8, in 2 door 'Holiday' Hardtop, Convertible, 'Fiesta' Convertible and 4 door Sedan |
